KPDC Salutes its Volunteers!

Serving up giant, sizzling custom-smoked sausages and dogs from Gold Sponsor JD Hoggs, KPDC held its second barbecue, 50/50 draw and membership drive of the year.
Held in conjunction with the widely publicized Fido Casting Call, the event was designed to increase the club’s brand awareness, attract new members and raise more money for off-leash area improvements.

With strong support from our teams of volunteers sporting the club’s new logo wear, the largest event KPDC has ever hosted went off without a hitch!

A Celebrity in our Midst?

A Celebrity in our Midst?

Who doesn’t want to be a star – being famous, living the good life and raising money for a great cause while you’re at it?

I’m too adorable!

Winnipeg dog owners seem serious about the dream. Hundreds of them – along with the cutest, the cuddliest, the smartest, most talented, most dignified and most adorable dogs – turned out for Sunday’s Casting Call.

Kilcona Park’s dogs were well-represented.  One of our own could be the next star in a national Fido commercial!!

The dog with the most votes wins, so get busy and cast your votes at fidocastingcall.ca. – One vote per person per dog per day until Sept. 10.

The “studio” opened 9am and by 9:30 the line-up of people and dogs stretched across the lawns as far as the parking lot.

If you missed the 2pm photo shoot cut-off, you can still enter the contest by posting a favorite photo of your aspiring actor at http://www.facebook.com/fidomobile/app_230532530393338.

The nation-wide Casting Call is expected to help raise $200,000 for Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.

The Kilcona event was sponsored by Fido Mobile in partnership with Kilcona Park Dog Club Inc.

Director of Membership Lee-Ann Zacharias acknowledges KPDC’s corporate sponsors.

KPDC Gold Sponsers Mobile Paws and Sprockett’s Doggy Day Camp groomers were recruited by Fido to provide VIP services at the photo shoot and the results were impressive. The dogs – positively fetching!

KPDC would like to thank our Platinum Sponsor, Pet Valu (Reenders and Rivergrove locations), Gold Sponsors McPhillips Animal Hospital and Dogfather Pet Services, and City of Winnipeg Animal Services Agency,  and Winnipeg Parks and Open Spaces for helping to make the event such a big success.

Special thanks to Kilcona Park foreman, Mark Storimans for moving in extra picnic tables and litter baskets and to park staff Leslie Eng and Ron Gilkes for their help with set-up and clean-up.

The Board of Directors also thanks Winnipeg Park Services East Area Technician, Karl Thordarson and Winnipeg Public Works Customer Service Rep, Louise Lanthier for support in planning and organizing the event.

KPDC’s Annual Barbecue Sets an All-time Record for Fundraising

Donna Henry,  President – Kilcona Park Dog Club Inc.

By any account, Kilcona Park Dog Club’s 6th Annual BBQ and Fundraiser was an overwhelming success!

KPDC raised a record net profit of $1,800 through the sale of food and beverages, raffle and 50/50 tickets, sponsorships and memberships. A warm welcome to all our new members!

Once again JD Hoggs lived up to its reputation as a purveyor of high-quality custom smoked meat. Jerry’s deliciously enormous (and enormously delicious) gluten and lactose-free sausages, hotdogs and burgers were a huge hit and by 3 o’clock were completely sold out.
